Charles "Charlie" P. Arave
Age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in Ogden, Weber, Utah.
Charlie was born on July 9, 1938, in Ogden, Weber, Utah, to Clarence E. Arave and Leone Fowler.
On July 17, 1964, he was married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple to Karen Franson (daughter of Amos & Leora Franson of Oakley, UT) for time and all eternity by Elder Harold B. Lee. Together, they had four children and made their home in Roy, Utah until Karen's passing in 2003. In 2005, Charlie married Joyce Henderson, and they enjoyed life together until Joyce's passing in 2019.
Charlie was a lifelong and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in numerous organizations and held many callings throughout his life. He was also called to serve an honorable mission in the Gulf States Mission, a service he cherished.
A loving father and grandfather, Charlie deeply enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, always supporting them and being their biggest fan. He had a passion for skiing, antique cars, and spending time with his close friends. Additionally, he loved visiting with extended family and treasured the many fond memories shared with his nieces and nephews, who all have funny "Uncle Charlie" stories to tell.
Alongside his wife Karen, Charlie co-owned and operated their photography business for close to 40 years. They worked side by side to achieve their goals and create a legacy together. Charlie was also a proud patriot who served in the Army Reserves.
Charlie is survived by his four children: Richard (Carolee) Arave of Houston, TX; Todd (KennaRae) Arave of Grantsville, UT; Marne' (Kevin) Rice of Uintah, UT; and Marlee (Wesley) Allen-Arave of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Jennifer Henderson (Dane Webster), Angela (Devin) Dixon, Eddie Henderson, and Micah (Tina) Henderson; 17 grandchildren: Elli, Ian, Oakley, Colin, Myranda, Anna, Ivan, Kaelan, Lincoln, Levi, Nathan, Isaac, Kira, Parker, Topaz, Chloe, and Luca; 3 great-grandchildren: Atlas, Scarlet, and Amelia; and his brother, Gary Arave. He was preceded in death by his wives, parents, and brothers Eldon Arave and Leon Arave.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the administrative and nursing staff at SOPA and AHA for the compassionate care they provided to our father.
