Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford
Charles A Becker Jr, 82, of Oxford, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, August 27, 2024, with his family by his side.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 9:00 A.M. Until 11:00 A.M. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. The memorial service celebrating his life will occur on August 30, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Coleman Funeral Home.
Charles was welcomed into this world on September 01, 1941, in Hackensack, New Jersey, as the only child born to the late Charles A Becker Sr. and Ann Gaudielle Becker of Saddle River, New Jersey.
Charles graduated high school from Lawrenceville Preparatory School in 1959, and his quest for higher education continued at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, from which he graduated in 1964 with a degree in History. As a man with an immeasurable amount of intelligence, Charles tested the depths of his knowledge at the University of Mississippi School of Law, from which he graduated in 1968 with his Juris Doctorate. Upon graduating from law school, he returned to his hometown in New Jersey with his new wife, Patricia Avent Becker. During their marriage, which lasted fifty- six years, the couple produced two children, four grandchildren, and countless memories while walking down the path of life.
Charles was licensed to practice law in both New Jersey and Mississippi. However, the majority of his career as a trial attorney was dedicated to serving the people of Bergen County, New Jersey. Charles was among the state's first few attorneys to be deemed certified as a civil trial attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey when the standard for civil trial attorneys came into effect during the 1970s. Charles had a compassionate heart; he used his compassionate heart, accreditations and licenses to help people who needed a champion in the legal arena. In conjunction with his legal career, he was also a longtime Bergen County Bar Association member.
Aside from his profoundly successful work, he was also a family man devoted to caring for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He truly cherished his relationship with loved ones, spending as much time as possible with them. Whenever Charles was not spending time with his family, he could be found bicycling, playing a round of golf, or competing in a friendly tennis match. Whenever he preferred activities of the leisure variety, Charles turned to either reading a good book or settling on the couch to watch either Ole Miss Football or the New York Giants compete on the gridiron.
Above all of his hobbies and interests, Charles cherished his relationship with the Lord and belonged to the body of believers at First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey, New Jersey.
He leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence: his beloved wife, Patricia Avent Becker; one son, Charles A Becker III and his wife Amanda; one daughter, Christa Anne Does and her husband David; and four grandchildren: David C Does Jr., Jessica Anne Does, Riley Anne Becker, and Tyler J Does; and a host of extended family members that were very dear to his heart.
The loved ones who departed from this life before Charles include his father and mother, Charles A Becker Sr. and Ann Gaudielle Becker.
