Charles Benoit

Jennings: It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share with you that after a long courageous fight Charles Benoit passed away on April 8.2024 at the age of 85. Charles was born in Morse, LA on September 10, 1938, to Dewey Benoit & Esther Vincent Benoit. Charles was a hard working & loving husband, father, & grandfather. He worked as a Finance Manager in the banking industry until the time of his retirement, Charles also held other positions in his lifetime such as, Mayor of Mermentau, and a clerk for Sonier's Auto Parts. In his spare time Charles loved going camping, playing bingo, and going to the Casino. Most of all Charles loved spending time with his family and friends, just visiting, catching up, and making memories. Charles was a kind and generous man, who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew & loved him.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Tonya Christine Benoit (Darron) ; his grandson, Kaden Duhon; his brother, Jimmy Benoit (Joyce); his sister, Barbara Girard (Bobby); as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
Charles now rejoices in heaven with his parents, Dewey & Esther Benoit; his beloved wife, Peggy Gautreaux Benoit; his brothers, Irving Benoit, Daniel Benoit; his sisters, Betty Bourque, Ella Benoit.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Charles's life will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau, LA on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow in the St John the Evangelist Cemetery.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 PM Thursday evening. The Family request that there be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 8:00 AM until the time to proceed to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for Charles' Mass of Christian Burial.
