Charles Edward Comer

Charles Edward Comer, 78, of Oak Hill, passed away peacefully with his loyal companion and best friend, Gracie who was by his side when he passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the home of his daughter, Lora Persinger.  

Born on May 13, 1945 in Beaver, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Dale Woodrow Comer and Opal Whittington.

Charles worked as a Coal Miner in his younger years then, went to driving truck for a variety of companies until his retirement. He was a handy man that could do electrical, plumbing, building, and mechanics. He was always full of life and the life of the party. Charles loved everyone and never met a stranger. He always did his best to do for anyone that asked.  

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Ella Mae Comer; step children, Allan Perry and Ella Anne Buckner; siblings, Jimmy Henson, Roger Comer, and Glen Ray Comer

Charles is survived by wife, Melissa Comer; daughters, Debra Hall, Charlene Taylor, and Jo Ann Baldwin; son, Chuck St. Clair Comer; step children, Lora Persinger, Patty Kincaid, Freda Runyon, Harry (Shannon) Buckner, Homer Buckner, Bobby Perry, Jessie Perry, and Haymond Perry; brothers, Frankie Runyon and Glen Comer; sisters, Wanda Popovich and Sue Myers; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Pastor Gary Blankenship and Brother Robert Ayers officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.

Friends may call one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
