Charles F. Dawson, affectionately known as “Papa”, 85, of Abbeville, husband of Carole Hagan Dawson, died Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Abbeville to the late Frank and Sara Ferguson Dawson.
A 1957 graduate of Dixie High School, Charles retired from Solutia after 33 years of dedicated service as a maintenance technician. His dedication to the community was demonstrated by his past memberships in the Abbeville County Forest Landowners Association and the Abbeville Jaycees. Additionally, he served on the Board of Directors for the Southeastern Pinzgauer Association. Charles found joy tending to his cows and farming, activities that connected him to the land he cherished. He was also a passionate NASCAR fan. Charles was a lifetime member and Elder of Little Mountain Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Dawson; sister, Sara Ann Cannon; and great-grandson, Barrett Dawson.
