Charles Edward Foca, 81, of West Monroe, Louisiana (formerly of Lexington Park, Maryland) passed away on April 1, 2023, in his home surrounded by his family after his courageous battle with ALS.
Charles better known as Ed by his family and friends or Poppy to his grandsons, was born to Americus Charles Foca and Marguerite Foca on Mach 14, 1942, in Norfolk, VA. He graduated from Granby High School and began his ten year service in the Navy. He then worked for the Department of Defense for the next 23 years until retiring in 1999. During that time, he went back to school at Tidewater Community College, where he earned an associate degree in business. After retirement you could probably find him on the golf course with friends, at home building something, fixing things, or spending quality time with his grandsons.
He was an original member of the Wicomico DewWackers golf group who plan to keep their long-standing tee time under the name “The Foca Group” to honor him. Ed was loved by so many and respected by all. As much as Ed loved golf, he loved his family and especially his grandsons Chase, Gage, and Ryder more. He was such an amazing, generous, and kind person that anyone would be lucky to call him a friend. He was an incredible husband to Joyce for 58 years, the best Dad you could ask for to Chuck, Thom, and Holly; the best friend and the absolute best and most loving Poppy to his grandsons. He was so loved and will be truly missed by so many.
Ed is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Thom; daughter, Holly; grandsons, Chase, Gage, and Ryder DeJean; and sisters, Joan Schragle, Minnie Frizzell, and Sherry Massie.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Americus and Marguerite; brother, Al Foca; sister, Millie Pike; and son, Charles (Chuck) Foca Jr.
Ed’s family will host a celebration of his life at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhern Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons and his nieces and nephews: Chase, Gage & Ryder DeJean; Robbie, Jenna, Kevin & Andrew Drummond; Andrew & Anna Kulmatiski; James, Jared & Jason Frizzell; Archie & Paul Massie; Christy James & Tracy Dunn; Jetone Casey; Elizabeth Voshell, Christie Foca, Michael Foca
Visitation will be held at 9:30 A.M. until service time on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
