Obituary of Charles E. Jordan
Charles Jordan
Dec. 12, 1938-October 4, 2024.
Born to Charles and Sybil Jordan in Auburn, Maine. Charlie graduated from Edward Little High School in 1957. He joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany where he would meet his wife, Edith Kursawe Jordan. They welcomed their first daughter, Joanne, before returning to the U.S. Their second daughter, Heidi was born in Lewiston, ME the following year.
Charlie relocated his family to Luna Pier, MI where he worked as a mechanic for many years for Lakeport VW in Toledo, OH. During their time in Michigan, they welcomed, Pam, Mike and Shelly.
There were many camping trips and vacations with friends throughout the years. Charlie made friends wherever he would go. In 1979, the Jordan family returned to Maine and he opened Jordan's Foreign Auto in West Poland. He co-founded Vacationland Volkswagen Association starting out with 20+ members to 267 online members and 130 due paying members.
Charlie's passion were his Volkswagens and anything German. He spent many years fixing up cars and going to car shows. He worked on them into his 80s where then he became a mentor to other mechanics.
One of his adventures was when he took his VW and traveled the entire length of Route 66. Between hang gliding in Switzerland with his grandson, Garrett, to skydiving and getting a tattoo with his granddaughter, Wendy, in his later years.
Another passion of Charlie's was traveling. He has taken many trips to Germany, around the country and to see his children, grandchildren or even great grandchildren. He loved to laugh and he loved life.
Charlie is predeceased by his parents, brother Bruce Jordan, Edith, and his daughter Joanne.
He is survived by his children; Heidi (Tim) Thomas, Mike (Cindy) Jordan, Pam ( Pat) Veilleux, Shelly Afthim. Grandchildren; Kim (Brad) Ragsdale, Wendy (John) Taylor, Robert Lauzier; Bridget (Jacob) Blanche, Erik and Garrett Thomas; Sam Snow, Lindsey (Shane) Preo, Zach (Amanda) Veilleux; Micheal (Sienna) Jordan, Kate Pushard and Charlie Jordan; Bryce and Brady Afthim, and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Richard (RJ) Jensen and his family of Windham, for the years of kindness they have shown Charlie. They were his second family and he loved to be included in the Jensen family celebrations. RJ went above and beyond what a friend would be expected to do, right up until his last breath.
His celebration of life will be held at the Windham Veterans Center, 35 Veterans Memorial Drive Windham, ME on October 19th from 12:00 - 2:00PM. Light refreshments will be served.

Grew up going with my Dad to Charlie´s a lot, getting help/advice on our VWs. I used to wander around the side yard, peeking in the windows of all the buses he had there. I remember one time when I was probably 7 or 8 I found a handful of change by one of the buses and asked Charlie if I could keep it. "Of course!" he said. I was delighted.
His dry sense of humor always made me laugh as well.

A couple of years ago his truck broke down at my house and I helped him get it going. He turned to me and said,"Well the tables have turned now haven´t they!

I remember going with my dad as a kid to Charlie´s to get help with our VWs. If my dad didn´t know how to fix something, Charlie did! He always made me smile and I always wanted to tag along when my dad said he was going!
