It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles William "Charlie" Jourdan, who peacefully departed this life at home on July 12, 2025. Born in Newark, New Jersey, on January 24, 1938, Charlie had a vibrant life marked by cherished family traditions.

A passionate New York Yankees fan, Charlie never missed a baseball game and proudly named his son, Michael, after the legendary Mickey Mantle. He dedicated himself to fitness, only missing his trips to the gym twice a year on Easter and Christmas when the gym was closed. Charlie had a home gym, loved riding his bicycle with friends down the Jersey shore, and enjoyed playing racquetball, which kept him active and engaged. He spent time often with his grandson, Michael. He taught him how to drive, amongst other things. He cherished playing baseball with his nephew and enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, where his competitive nature added an exciting edge to every game. Though he could sometimes be hard to deal with in moments of unwavering determination, his love for those around him kept everyone coming back-we all loved him dearly.

Charlie and his beloved wife, Patty, spent much of their lives in West Carteret before retiring to Brick, NJ, to be closer to the Jersey shore. They loved taking long walks on the beach with their grandson, Michael, and frequently visited Island State Beach Park, creating lasting memories together.

Charlie worked as a truck driver for Yellow Freight Trucking, where he eventually retired, was a Teamster, and served in the Army until 1955. He had an unwavering love of Italian food, and Patty was the best cook, always making holidays extra special.

Annual vacations to Wildwood were a highlight for Charlie, where he took his wife and son and than grandson and proudly met up with friends, creating lasting memories. He also enjoyed sharing these trips with his nieces, and nephews. His home was always open for family holiday dinners, and the pool was a favorite gathering spot for family and friends. His love of dogs was evident through the years, and we will miss them all dearly.

Charlie is predeceased by his mother, Alma Jourdan; his father, Charles Jordan; his sister, Viola Vint; his son, Michael Jourdan; and his nephew, Dennis Vint. He is survived by his grandson, Michael Jourdan Jr; his niece Karen and her husband, Bob Caffrey; his nephew, Gary Vint, and his wife, Annie; his niece, Christine Miller; his niece and goddaughter, Stacey Cudnik; his nephew, Brian Vint; and his niece and goddaughter, Kristie Giordano, and her husband, Anthony.

A memorial service to celebrate Charlie's life will be held on Wednesday, July 16 2025 from 10 am - 12 pm.

Rest in peace, Charlie. Your memory will forever be etched in our hearts forever!
