Charlie loved the Lord and loved his family. A lifelong farmer, he loved his John Deere tractors and was devoted to looking out for his neighbors in their time of need. Whether needing help in the fields or anywhere else, neighbors knew Charlie was the one they could depend on. This caring trait has been passed down to all his children and grandchildren. Charlie served as class secretary and was on the board at both Seymour Nazarene and Crothersville Nazarene Church. He was head usher at both churches and served on the district board of the Nazarene Church. Charlie's dedication to service extended to his post as president of the Ackeretts Cemetery for over 50 years.
Left behind to cherish Charlie's memory are his beloved wife of nearly 63 years, Linda (Roach) Lawyer; his children, Glenn (Cynthia) Lawyer, Kimberly (James) Schneider, Darrin (Gail) Lawyer, and Deanna (Dill) Whittymore; grandchildren, Cory Lawyer, Dalton Lawyer, Colton Whittymore, Johnathan Skene, Landon Sons, Veronica Sons, Kayla Skene, Kelsey Schneider, and Alexandria Lawyer; great grandchildren, Blakeleigh Sons, Wyatt Lawyer, Elijah Lawyer, and Charles Lawyer; and his sister, Rosie Harner.
He is preceded in death by his parents, listed above; three sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral services for Charlie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Voss and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 316 North Chestnut Street, Seymour. Pastor Tim Lichtey will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, August 17, between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and again on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the service begins. Charlie will be laid to rest immediately following at Ackeretts Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Charlie's honor may be made out to the Brownstown Church of the Nazarene or to Ackeretts Chapel Cemetery. You are invited to visit our website, vossfuneralservice.com, to leave condolences or share a memory.
