George L. Lawyer, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on August 25, 2025, at the age of 91.
George was born May 22,1934, in Bloomington, Indiana to parents George and Marjorie Lawyer. George worked at RCA until the mid 60's and eventually retired from Indiana University Carpenter Shop as a Locksmith.
He was proceeded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mable Lawyer in 2019, his companion, Donna Baxter in 2025, his brothers and sisters, Harrison Lawyer, Jerry Lawyer, Betty Lou Johnson and Wanda Rose Carpenter as well as his parents and some nieces and nephews.
George is survived by three Daughters Joan (Charles) Christy of Ellettsville, Patty Daniel of Columbus and Diane Butler of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Shelly (Scott) Gleyze, Laura (Aaron) Wood, Jan Ozbun, Bobby Belcher, Tiffany Belcher, and Justin Daniel; ten great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday August 28th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville, Indiana. The funeral service will be held at Liberty Church of Christ on Friday, Aug 29th at 1:00 pm with visitation at the church from 12:00 - 1:00 pm, prior to the funeral services.
The family would like to thank all the employees of Elara Home Health Care who gave Dad such wonderful care in his final weeks. His Daughter Diane and grandson Bobby who lived with him and took care of him, and all the others who helped make his life happy. There are too many to name, but you know who you are and you were much appreciated.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make contributions to the Liberty Church of Christ Cemetery Fund at 12884 E McVille Rd, Solsberry, IN 47459.
