It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Davis Parrett, a beloved resident of South Boston, Virginia. Charles passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on March 28th, 1947, in the town of Clarksville, Virginia, Charles was the son of Roy Davis Parrett and Thelma Wilson Parrett, who preceded him in death. Charles spent most of his life in South Boston, VA where he raised his family.

Charles was a proud alumnus of Longwood College, where he earned a Master's degree. He dedicated 25 years of his professional life to the transformer industry, excelling as a supervisor at Hitachi, formerly ABB/Westinghouse. His colleagues remember him as a diligent and compassionate leader, whose work ethic and integrity were unmatched. In addition to his career, Charles proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, a testament to his commitment to service and patriotism. Charles had an enduring love for Nascar, spending weekends cheering for his favorite drivers. He enjoyed spending time at the beach with friends and family. He was often found riding his Harley through the scenic routes of Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Franklin Parrett; daughter, Christy Watts (David); son, Chad Parrett (Kathy); grandchildren, Michael Watts (Kristen), Hunter Watts, Drake Parrett (Blailyn), Chandler Parrett and Tara Parrett; great grandchildren, Lakelynn Watts, Emberlyn Parrett and Mathias Parrett; step daughters, Lisa Smiley and Kimberly Smiley; step grandchildren, Alex Smiley and Alyssa Smiley; and siblings, Edith Williamson and, Lois Dennis (Bud). The family was blessed to have Sandra, Cindy & Kendra by their side to care for Charles.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pamela Chandler Parrett; his parents, Roy and Thelma Parrett; siblings, Mary Helen Morefield and Peggy French.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday August 7th at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Reverend Don Bryant and Boxley Llewellyn officiating followed by military honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday August 6th from 6-8 pm at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Charles's life was a tapestry woven with love, adventure, and friendship. His presence was a blessing to all who knew him, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity.
