Charles G. Piligian, 91, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away peacefully with his wife Annette by his side on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at AdventHealth Hospice.
Charles, affectionately known as "Uncle Charlie" or "Chas" to his family and friends, was born June 4, 1932 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was the youngest of four children born to Stepan and Turfanda (Yergatian) Piligian. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1949, and subsequently worked with his father at Piligian Poultry Farm. He married Angela (Oulohojian) Piligian on May 6, 1956 and together they raised three boys while living in a house they had built next door to the family farm.
Attending Northeastern University at night, Charlie earned in bachelor's degree in business administration in 1963 and then went on to enjoy a career as a Systems Analyst and manager with Prudential Insurance, first in Boston and then in Jacksonsville, Florida, retiring in 1989.
Charlie had many favorite pastimes. In his early working years he excelled in the Bridge card club at Prudential, winning many bets from his colleagues without ever revealing his secrets. He was also quite the pin-knocker in his Tuesday night Milford bowling league, captaining his team. Upon moving to Jacksonville and admitting that the 16 pound bowling balls were just too much, he continued his card-playing skills with he and Angel hosting bi-weekly nights at their house for all his Prudential work team friends. And his favorite hobby was of course, golf trying to reach that elusive 10 handicap. He played twice weekly at Julington Creek, and beamed proudly the day he made a hole-in-one while playing with his three sons. One thing Chas always had was a leg-up on them, who could never beat him in any golf round. He also volunteered as a marshall yearly at TPC Sawgrass. Upon moving to Palm Coast, he played at all 5 courses there and was a member at his favorite, River Bend in Ormond Beach.
He shared 51 years of marriage with Angel and was heartbroken at her passing in 2007. He was fortunate to have found love again and married Annette (Russo) Piligian in 2009, enjoying a 14 year marriage and, with her, led the People's Friendship Club, which focused on providing social activities and companionship for senior adults in the Palm Coast area. He truly enjoyed planning the trips for his club and looked forward to attending them.
In addition to his wife Annette, Charlie is survived by his three sons Paul (San Mateo, California), David (Jersey City, New Jersey), and Gary and daughter-in-law Pam (Vienna, Virginia), his two grandsons Alex (Vienna, Virginia) and Ivan (Farmington Hills, Michigan), Annette's grandchildren Alexandra (Charlie) Piccone, Forrest Mason, and Elizabeth Mason, his brother Paul (Saratoga, California), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Charlie spent his last few years fiercely battling a multitude of medical ailments, and is now at peace. Perhaps he's working from above on that unfinished book of baseball history and statistics.
A visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am with the funeral service beginning at 11:00am on Monday, November 6 at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast, 220 Palm Coast Parkway SW, Palm Coast, Florida 32137. Interment will follow at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens, 511 Old Kings Rd S, Flagler Beach, Florida 32136. Condolences may be shared with the family here on our online family guestbook
