Church Point, LA: A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire, LA for Charles R. Prather, 75, who passed away surrounded by his family at 10:16 AM Sunday, July 21 at The Carpenter House at St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette, LA. Fr. Michael Vidrine, Parochial Vicar of OLSH Church, Church Point, will be the Celebrant of the Mass. Entombment will take place in the Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Mausoleum.
Charles, a resident of Church Point, was the son of the late Henry Prather and the former Hermance Leger. He loved being with people and was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off of his back and never ask for anything in return. A devout Catholic and usher at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, he never held a grudge. Mr. Prather attended the recitation of the rosary at the chapel every Wednesday until his illness.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Yvette Daugereaux Prather of Church Point; one daughter, Monique P. Harrington and husband Don of Church Point; one son, Michael C. Prather and significant other Stephanie Henry of Church Point; three grandchildren, Tyler Rayon of Church Point, Christopher Prather and significant other Hannah Stears of Orlando, FL and Kevin Prather and significant other Sara Matte of Scott, LA; his mother-in-law, Geraldine Daugereaux; two brothers, Patrick Prather and wife Theresa of Richard, LA and Robert Prather and wife Debbie of Eunice, LA; his two nieces, Megan and Rachelle and a nephew, Blaise Prather. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Foch Daugereaux; two grandchildren, Justin and Brandon Rayon and a nephew, Mitchell Prather.
Personal condolences may be sent to the Prather family at www.guidryfuneralhome.com. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
