Charles Albert "Chuck" Tompkins, age 77, of Hillsdale, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Lynwood Manor in Adrian. He was born on February 17, 1948, in Hillsdale to Frank and Myrtle (Hendershot) Tompkins and was raised by his foster parents Albert and Selma Buda. Chuck married Janice Woodard on June 12, 1971, and she survives.
Chuck graduated from Hillsdale High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. He later worked for 25 years as a truck driver for the Hillsdale County Road Commission. Chuck enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren and his morning coffee time with his friends. He was an animal lover, especially his kittens.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janice; two children, Jennifer Bildner, and Timothy (Jennifer) Tompkins; three grandchildren, Caige Tompkins, Noah Bildner, and Breanna (Jessie) Hall; and one little bean on-the-way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his foster parents, and one sister, Alberta Whitford.
There will be no services at this time for Chuck Tompkins. Arrangements have been entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
