Charles Roy Vogt, 91, of Shadyside, Ohio passed away Monday August 4, 2025.

He was born on March 19, 1934 in Bellaire, Ohio.

Although Chuck was born in Bellaire he has been a long time Shadyside resident. He graduated from Shadyside High School in 1953.

In the late 1960's Chuck founded C&R Cable System, the first cable system available to the residents of Shadyside. Chuck not only brought cable programming to the residents but also created original programming broadcast on his local channel 6. Some of his original programming included a bingo game that viewers could play from their homes. He also created local talk shows such as Ask Aunt Sally where viewers would write in for advice, a teen forum where local teens would discuss topics of interest to them. He had Christmas specials where the local children could write their letters to Santa and they would be read on air by Mrs. Claus. Chuck could also be found on Friday nights in the press box of the high school football and basketball games recording them to be aired on channel 6 for those who couldn't make it to the games.

Chuck was also very involved in his community. He served as a volunteer fireman/paramedic for over 25 years rising to the rank of Captain. Along with his service to the fire department, Chuck also served on the city council, was a deputy sheriff for Belmont County, and was Belmont County Coroner. He loved supporting our local Tiger athletics. Even after he no longer broadcast the games you could always find him in the stands cheering them on.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Russell (Russ) Vogt and Lillian Josephine 'Jo' Vogt. His brother Thomas Russell Vogt, Jr., sister Betty Jo DeGenova, the mother of his children Carolyn (Shaver) Vogt, son-in-law Walter Cotgreave, and great granddaughter Dugan Davis.

He is survived by his children Steven (Sandra) Vogt, of Mexico Beach, Florida; Susan (Jack) Stephens, of Shadyside, Ohio; Barbara (William) Sweitzer, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Sandra Cotgreave, of Shady Hills, Florida. 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 3900 Central Avenue, Shadyside, on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 1:00pm until time of Last Call Service at 3pm at the OR&W Fire Department. Private inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.
