Douglas Ray Beekman

Douglas Ray Beekman "Beek", age 67, of Shadyside, Ohio, passed away on August 18, 2025, at Reynolds Memorial Hospital. Born on November 12, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the beloved son of the late Harold and Hilda (Davis) Beekman.

Douglas retired from his dedicated career to serving the community as the Superintendent of the Shadyside Water and Waste Water Departments, where he worked diligently for many years.

He is survived by his devoted wife of forty-two years, Sheri (Lay) Beekman. He leaves behind a loving family, including his son, Evan Beekman, and his wife Kiersten of Jacobsburg, Ohio; his daughter, Gina Conaway, and her husband Corey of Eagle Mountain, Utah. Douglas was a cherished grandfather to Sunnie, Dallas, and Axl Beekman, as well as Logan and Hayden Conaway.

He is also survived by his brothers, Donald Paul Beekman and his wife Becky, and Richard Beekman and his wife Laura Cramblet. His father-in-law, George Lay, as well as his sister-in-law, Lori Runyon, and her husband Marty, also mourn his passing.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 3900 Central Avenue Shadyside on Friday August 22, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025. A service to honor Douglas's life will follow at 1 p.m. the same day. Interment will immediately follow in Powhatan Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to the Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church School Lunch Program.
