Charles A. D. von Laudermann of West Newton, MA passed away peacefully, July 11, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.

Charles was born in Bern, Germany to Estanislao and Mercedes De Llano von Laudermann. Due to his father's career, the family moved from Germany to Namibia, Argentina, Isla de Juvenua, formerly the Isle of Pines, and finally Havana, Cuba.

His formal education began in Havana, where as a small boy he traveled by ferry to and from school. After primary school, he attended the Military Academy of the Caribbean in Havana. In 1960, Charles came to the United States to continue his education at the Virginia Military Institute. He graduated from California Aircraft Institute, proudly having earned his pilot's license at the age of 17 ½. Charles was a Peace Corps volunteer, serving in Kenya and Columbia. Upon his return, he continued his education at Boston University earning a degree in Social Work.

He worked for the Massachusetts Department of Social Services. He was also a Research s Assistant at McLean Hospital. Prior to retirement, he worked with Cambridge Health Alliance.

Charles was an accomplished polo player and longtime member of the U.S. Polo Association. He had a great interest in coins of all kinds and was a member of the Boston Numismatic and La Raza Numismatic Societies. Charles devoted time as a Boy Scout Leader while his three sons were involved in Scouting.

A consummate traveler, Charles took numerous trips throughout the U. S. and other countries. Being fluent in seven languages, he truly enjoyed meeting and speaking with people throughout the world. Charles is survived by his wife Gwen Brickett of West Newton, sons Eric of Pittsburgh, PA, Karl of Watertown, MA, and Peter (Renata) of West Roxbury, MA, and former foster daughter Tanya Rose Rocha (Kim) of Hanson, MA. His two sisters Tania, and Katrina, predeceased him.

He leaves three sisters-in-law, Diane Allis, Bonnie Brickett (James Bengtson), and Janice Brickett (Phillip Cavazos). He also leaves five nieces and nephews and ten great nieces and nephews. He is survived by cousins Charlie Fleitas(Linda), Hortensia Diaz and Sheila.

Charles' family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Good Shepherd Community Hospice for their exceptional physical, emotional, and spiritual care and support during Charles' final days.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Good Shepherd Community Hospice, 160 Wells Ave., Newton MA 02459.
