Charles " Chuck" Hubert Wendling, age 85, of Chesaning, died on December 4, 2024, at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Maple Grove. The Family will receive friends on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 2:00pm to 7:00pm with a Knights of Columbus Rosary being prayed at 7:00pm at McGeehan Funeral Homes Martin Chapel.
Chuck was born on November 11, 1939, to Hubert and Marcella (Hebeler) Wendling, in Owosso, Michigan. He proudly served our country with the United States National Guard. Chuck then married the love of his life, Diana Short, on October 5. 1963. They shared 61 years of marriage this year.
During his life, Chuck loved to be outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. This year was the first year since he was 15 years old that he did not go deer hunting. He served on the Maple Grove Township Board from 1968 to 2000 as a Trustee and later as Supervisor. He was among the first to start up Twin Township Ambulance, where he volunteered on most Sunday evenings. Chuck also coached little league baseball for many years and enjoyed attending all the kids and grandkids sporting events throughout the years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Diana; daughters, Carrie Broughton, Suzanne (Jeff) Chappelle, Tricia (Tim) Colbeck; sons, Randall (Bobbi) Wendling, and Mitchell (Lisa) Wendling; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandsons; siblings, Donald Wendling, Maurice Wendling, Kenneth (Vi) Wendling, Joan (Mike) Skeltis, Mary Bauman, Fredrick (Katie) Wendling, Raymond (Karen) Wendling, sisters-in-laws, Linda Wendling, Marsha, Carolyn Kish, Ginny Short as well as many other loving family and friends.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Marcella; siblings, Walter and Vince Wendling, in-laws Jean Wendling and Bernie Bauman; Mother and Father-in-law, Harold and Beatrice Short; siblings-in-law, Mervin (Joan), Edward, Marcus Short and Tom Kish.
Memorial Contributions are suggested to Twin Township Ambulance or Maple Grove Fire Department
