Charles "Charlie" Gonza Wimsatt, 93, of Louisville, entered Eternal Life on Friday, September 5, 2025.

Charlie was born in Fredericktown, Kentucky to the late Charles Bowman and Golda Wimsatt. His love for farming and raising cattle became his lifelong commitment. He retired from General Electric after 38 years and was a veteran of the United States Army.

Charlie enjoyed serving others and helping people in need. He was able to do that by volunteering on the Black Mudd Fire Department for 42 years, the NFO, IUE Local 761, Crusade for Children, and American Legion Post 121 in Bardstown, Kentucky as Commander. He was also a charter member of St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Prudentia "Peggy" Wimsatt; son, James Kenneth Wimsatt; son-in-law, John F. Wolfe; parents; and 10 siblings.

Carrying on Charlie's legacy are his children, Charles L. Wimsatt (Kimberly), Steven A. Wimsatt, Dianne M. Wolfe, Richard B. Wimsatt (Peggy), Thomas H. Wimsatt, Michael B. Wimsatt, and Karen L. Owen (Ted); grandchildren, Jonathan, Jenny, Tammy, Alex, Patrick, Bo, Jay, Erik, Tom, Kristen, Brandon, and Candace; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Albert Wimsatt (Carol); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Charlie will be from 1-8PM on Tuesday, September 9 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Funeral Mass will be at 11AM on Wednesday, September 10 at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church, 1818 Rangeland Road, with burial to follow at St. Rose Cemetery in Springfield, Kentucky.
