Charles Leon Woody, age 85, of LaFayette, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
Mr. Woody was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Shaw Industries in Ringgold. He was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church for 50-plus years where he was Sunday School Superintendent and Trustee of the Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Norma Jean Jones Woody; son, William Kenneth Harris; one sister; and five brothers.
Mr. Woody is survived by his daughter, Leondra A. (Steve) Woods; grandchildren, Taylor (Liz) Harris, Blake (Heather) Harris, Morgan Harris, Jared (Krista) Woods, and Sarah Woods; several great grandchildren; brother, George Reuben (Ganet) Woody; several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Imogene Woody, Gwen Woody, and Maxine Woody.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastors Jim Powell and Marty McRae officiating.
Interment will take place at LaFayette Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers are Steve Woods, Jared Woods, Taylor Harris, Eddie Wallace, Morgan Harris, and Sarah Woods.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Tapestry Hospice and the staff of The Residences at Pin Oak.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 22, at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
