COURTESY POSTING FOR FOX AND WEEKS FUNERAL HOME
Cheryl Anne Swinney Couturier, 74, of Savannah passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on March 1, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Skidaway Island United Methodist Church Giddens Chapel. Please join the family for a Celebration of Life Reception immediately following the service at The Landings Palmetto Club, 1 Cottonwood Drive Savannah GA 31411.
Cheryl was born January 14, 1949, in Atlanta, GA, the first of two children. After growing up in Cordele GA Cheryl graduated from Georgia Southern University & pursued her career as an educator. While living in Atlanta, Cheryl met her loving husband, Jeff Couturier, and they were married on December 29, 1972.
In 1973, Jeff and Cheryl moved to Cordele, GA, where they raised their two daughters, Julie and Megan. Cheryl worked for the Crisp County Board of Education, initially as a teacher, then administration, and finally a principal. Cheryl was a woman of faith and she loved serving in any capacity. Cheryl loved teaching, her plants, and spending time with her grandchildren. After Jeff's retirement, Jeff and Cheryl moved to Savannah to be near their two daughters and their families. Cheryl loved life, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her family.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Couturier and father, James Dudley Swinney Sr.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Julie McLeod (Dave), and Megan Thomas (Scott); brother, James Dudley Swinney Jr.; her loving mother, Victoria Beatrice Swinney; four grandchildren, Miles and Molly Wells McLeod, and Chance and Gracie Bea Thomas; and many adored nieces and nephews.
