Cheryl Crossette Greco
Of Waltham, formerly of Auburndale, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 11th, 2024 with loving family by her side in the comfort of her home after a long illness at the age of 71.
Born on February 14, 1953 in Newton; daughter of the late John and Gladys (Haley) Crossette. Cheryl was raised and lived most her life in the Newton Village of Auburndale before moving to Waltham 12 years ago. In her younger days, she also spent many memorable summers on Nantucket with her dear friend, Leslie Cabot Boule, working at their family inn.
A graduate of Newton North High School with the Class of 1971; Cheryl continued her studies abroad at Chichester College in West Sussex, England. Returning home, she attended Blaine Hair & Beauty School in Boston and began a successful career as a hairdresser at a local beauty salon. She later worked side by side with her husband, Vinny, as Co-Owner and CEO for Vinny Greco's Powerhouse Gym of Watertown.
Always cheerful and uplifting, Cheryl was soft spoken but not shy when expressing her opinions. She had a kind and caring nature about her and was a lover of all creatures, great and small, especially squirrels. She was spiritual in many ways with a strong love of God and Country and had a passion for music, reading, drawing, art and Sudoku.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vinny Greco, in 2010, and her cherished nephew "Son", Anthony Marrazzo Jr., with whom she shared a special bond and who unexpectedly passed in June of 2024.
Cheryl is survived by her loving families; the Greco Family, Jeanne and Anthony "Toot" Marrazzo and Marianne Greco of West Newton, Diane and Joe Chaput of Hopedale; the Crossette Family, Jay and Maricka (Marie) Crossette of Enterprise, AL, Denise Anderson of The Villages, FL and Lianne Crossette of Brighton; her treasured nieces and nephews, Jeanine and Sean Figueroa, Jamie Marrazzo, Justin Coffey, Chloe Greco, Danielle Chaput, Nicole Chaput and "Little" Jay Crossette; and her grand-nephews, Luke, Alex, Jacob and DJ. In addition, she is survived by many dear friends.
Those who wish to pay their respects to Cheryl and her family, they can do so in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on FRIDAY, AUGUST 16th from 10:00 am until 12 noon. Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Cheryl's life to remember the love and friendship she shared with so many others during a Funeral Service at the conclusion of visiting hours in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons on Friday afternoon August 16th at 12 pm. Burial will follow at the Newton Cemetery.
