BOARDMAN, OHIO – Cheryl H. Peterka, 76, of Boardman formerly of Georgia and Plymouth Meeting, PA, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at her home.

Cheryl was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 8, 1949. She was a graduate of Plymouth Meeting High School class of 1967. Chery continued her education graduating from Slippery Rock University in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in education, Georgia State University in 1977 with a dual master's degree and from North Georgia in 1995 with a nursing degree. Cheryl taught at Ash Street Elementary in Greater Atlanta for 22 years. She later worked as a nurse at Northside Hospital in Atlanta but mostly used her nursing skills to care for her mother. Cheryl attended Midway Methodist Church in Cumming, GA, Westminster Presbyterian in Boardman, OH and Boardman Methodist Church. Cheryl enjoyed photography, reading, traveling with her husband, ice skating and skiing. She was beautiful person that was generous, loyal to a fault and had a big heart.

Preceding Cheryl in death were her father William N. Hamilton; mother Ethel (Campbell) Hamilton and neighbor and good friend Carol Prox.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, whom she married June 7, 1975, John Peterka; sisters-in-law Kathleen Turner, Vicki Gardner and her husband Mark and Margaret Long; brothers-in-law Anthony Peterka and his wife Suzy, Steve Peterka and his wife Polly and Thomas Peterka; many nieces and nephews; neighbor and good friend Ron Prox; neighbor children she considered to be her own Shelly Prox Barry and her husband Mark and Kristy Trammel and her husband Zach; maid of honor Sandi Slasinski, her husband David and their children Christopher and Cathryn and her husband John; college roommate Suzanne Weaver Wojcik and her husband Bill; her many friends and neighbors in Georgia and Boardman and her cat Gabriella.

A private service was held at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler, PA.
