Chester Levi Banks, Jr. of Cincinnati, OH, passed away, at the age of 88, on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
Born in Mississippi to Chester and Daisy Banks, he was the eldest of ten siblings. He spent an illustrious career devoted to serving others. He earned his Master's in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati and retired from the United States Air Force and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). After retirement, Chester continued to serve his community and upheld his commitment to education by substitute teaching at his local school district in Mt. Healthy, OH. For many years, he led his community as the president of the Lexington Heights Civic Association, consistently volunteered each election as a poll worker, and was an active member and leader in his church demonstrating his steadfast commitment to service and faith.
Chester is survived by his children: Steven Anthony Banks, Angela Michelle Banks, and Carolyne Diane Banks; siblings: Purnell (Beatrice), Charles (Ida), Mattie Straughter (Rufus), Curtis (Bobbie), Barbara Franklin, and Daisy Burnice Banks; sisters-in-law, Dolly and Pat; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; scores of cousins, nieces and nephews; and devoted daughter figure Victoria Burt. Chester was preceded in death by his wife, Margerine Hull Banks; his parents; brothers: Fletcher, Jerry, and Isaac, and sister-in-law Beatrice.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the Walker Funeral Home – Mt Healthy at 7272 Hamilton Avenue, Mt Healthy Ohio 45231. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Memorial Park & Mausoleum, 11825 Pippin Road, Colerain Township, Ohio 45231.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
