Mr. Chester Gene Cash, age 80 of Shelby, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris Louisa Toney Cash of the home, his children, Terry Cash and wife Cathy, Chris Cash and wife Libby, and Nathan Cash, grandchildren, Cierra Smith and husband Luke, Bryson Cash, Bryant Cash, Destinee Cash, Gaidge Cash, Landyn Cash, Aiden Cash, Amber Phifer and husband Matthew, and Tracy Shipman, great grandchildren, Braxton Smith, Dayton Smith, Kayden Pendergrass, Karter Pendergrass, Kinzlei Phifer, Karma Phifer, Kamdyn Phifer, Kingzlyn Phifer, Kylo Phifer, and Stacy Shipman, a brother, David Cash and wife Jean, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born December 6, 1944, in Rutherford County, NC, Chester was the son of the late Sherman Cash Sr. and Ollie Mae Moore Cash and was preceded in death by a son, Mark C. Cash, siblings, Olema Henson, Mary Lou Ledford, Joe Cash, Coleen Pearson, and Sherman “Buster” Cash Jr.
Chester was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a faithful member of Flint Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed working in the yard, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed listening to his “Boogie Woogie” piano music. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
A funeral service will be held 3:00pm Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Flint Hill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Keith Dixon and Rev. Shane Kirby. A visitation will be held from 2:00pm – 3:00pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
