Chris C. Detert, 66, of Waterloo, WI passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Chris was born on May 4, 1958 in Columbus, the son of Milo (Mike) and Lorraine (Holzhueter) Detert. He married Kristie (Filter) Detert on June 16, 1990, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waterloo, and the couple celebrated 34 years of marriage. He spent 19 years at Famous Footwear in Sun Prairie before retiring from Royle Printing in 2022.
He lived for his daughters, Kinsey and Kaylor, and grandchildren, Holly and Shepherd. He never missed a sports game, concert, or event and was always cheering them on. Chris loved the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs and never missed a game. He loved playing cribbage, completing puzzles, and reading in his free time.
He is survived by his wife Kristie, daughters Kinsey (Cody) Berger and Kaylor (Mitchell) Wiedenbeck, grandchildren Holly and Shepherd Wiedenbeck, mother Lorraine, brothers Curt and Cory, brother-in-law Jeff (Jill) Filter, nephew Craig (Johanna) Detert, nieces Nicole (Blaine) Foels, Tiarra (Jake Frasher) Detert, Rebecca Detert, and Samantha Detert, great-nephews Pierce Detert and Emmett Foels, great-niece Everly Rangel, father-in-law Ralph Duley, along with many cousins and friends, and his favorite grand-dogs, Gracie and Winter.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, Milo and in-laws, Robert and Donna Filter.
The family would like to thank the Waterloo and Sun Prairie EMS departments and staff at UW Hospital East Madison. In lieu of flowers or donations, please donate to the Waterloo Fire and EMS Supporters Inc.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, on Friday, February 21, 2025, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Waterloo with Pastor Bruce McKenney presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Washington Cemetery in the town of Portland.
