Christian Matthew Welty was born September 5th, 2002 to parents Carrie and Stephan Welty in Martinsville, Indiana. Christian passed away December 5th, 2024 at the age of 22 years old. Christian grew up and spent most of his life in Greenwood, Indiana alongside his brother Bailey, under the care of his mother Carrie and stepfather Jeff Gullic. Christian was widely loved by many in his community and was always passionate about giving everything he could to help the others around him. He went through Greenwood Community Schools and continued his education with an apprenticeship within the Local 20 Sheet Metal Union, working on job sites across the state.
Christian was an avid motorsports enthusiast, spending a lot of his free-time working with his stepfather, Jeff, building, dismantling, repairing, and selling motorcycles. Christian's prized passion project, a red 2002 Honda CBR was one of his most recent builds and where he was often found late into the evening. Christian loved to get lost in the road, frequently travelling over 100 miles at a time exploring nearly all of the state of Indiana and several surrounding states on his motorcycle.
In Christian's youth, he spent several seasons with the Greenwood Marching Woodmen as a percussionist where he became proficient with many different percussion instruments. During his time in his highschool, Christian was also incredibly passionate about helping others where he could and found himself in a volunteer program offering assistance with the special education department.
Christian is survived by his mother, Carrie Welty, step-father, Jeff Gullic, brother, Bailey Welty, grandmother, Kathleen Nelson, and step-grandparents, Gary and Michele Gullic of Greenwood, Indiana. He is also survived by his uncle, Randy Mullenax, and cousins, Travis and Olivia Mullenax, of Painesville Township, Ohio.
His service is being hosted at Wilson St. Pierre, and will ultimately be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery overlooking his childhood home. Christian, who is and was loved by many, will be missed dearly by those whose lives he touched. Rest easy buddy, we all love you.

Christian was a very kind young man in my English class at Greenwood Middle School. I am so sorry to learn of his passing. Carrie, you know how fond I was of him as my student. My heart aches for you.

Christian taught me so many things over our years together. One thing I will never forget from him, is that being me is the best thing I can be. What comes after that, is what´s meant to come. To my best friend who I never thought I´d have to say goodbye to; I love you with everything I have. Thank you for everything. You may be gone, but I will make sure you never die. Forever will you live on in my soul and in my actions. I will never ever let you be forgotten.

Christian was one of my choir students. Not only was he a talented musician, I had the privilege of seeing his life perspective turn around as he began helping with some of the special education students during his free class periods. He was so caring and patient, and was willing to help even when it wasn't pretty. He was a great kid!

Christian saw that a man was making me uncomfortable and came up and acted like we were best friends. We actually became friends and found a
common passion for motorcycles. I will forever remember his heart made of gold and will continue to rip up the streets in his memory.
