Christina was born on Sept. 19, 1995, in Traverse City, the daughter of Francis "Joe" Brooks III and Laurie (McCurry) Smith. She attended the eighth grade at Traverse City West Junior High School.
Christina spent her days on the computer, playing video games, watching movies, shopping and talking to her friends. She also enjoyed snowmobiling, swimming, camping, boating and hanging out with her family.
Christina had a warm heart and always felt she was meant to be a caregiver. She loved babies and small children, and they were drawn to her.
Her two passions in life were horses and taking photographs.
Christina is survived by her father, Francis "Joe" (Catherine) Brooks III; mother, Laurie (Jason) Smith; sisters, Kelsie Saur and Summer Smith; grandparents, Joe and Betty Brooks, Linda Brooks, Marjorie McCurry, Rick and Donna Smith, and Delberta Windiate; special cousin, Nicole McCurry; aunts, Richelle and Shawn; uncles, Stephen and Reid; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Her grandfather, Grant McCurry, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be today, Oct. 31, 2008, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Horse Rescue or AC Paws.

I haul fuel up and down 75 and I've come across Christina's cross numerous times. Today, I decided to look her up online and found this obituary. It's brought tears my eyes reading these condolences and now learning of how she died. The family was just trying to do the right thing.. I'm so sorry for your loss.. that breaks my heart..

This morning in Aug 2021 I drove from Sault Ste Marie to Traverse City, on the way I saw a cross on the side of the road on I75 with the name. For some reason I looked it up on the internet and found out what happened on Find A Grave. I am a total stranger, but it's been on my mind all day, so I have come to the cemetery this evening to pay my respects. If by chance you read this, I can only offer you the sympathies of a father of 3 girls. I am so sorry for your loss.
