MAPLETON: Christine M. McPherson (Teen) 95 years young of Mapleton passed away at home peacefully on February 21, 2025. She was born on January 26, 1930 to Iva (Bean) and Bernard Kenney. Teen grew up on the family farm in Mapleton one of 12 children.
Her family was blessed to celebrate her birthday with her less than a month ago, she was the Belle of the Ball! Christine was a Jack of many trades, a member of many different organizations with a long work history from childhood on. A farmer, census taker, school aid, etc, etc, but best known as a longtime rural carrier for the U.S Postal Service. In her retirement years she was seen by many volunteering in the community and maintaining her meticulous properties in Mapleton and Portage Lake. Teen enjoyed patrolling her property in her golf cart, mowing her lawn and snow-blowing her huge driveway, as recent as the day of her death. Calling her own shots to the very end. Teen truly lived by the adage: "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming; HEY, WHAT A RIDE!"
In addition to her parents, Christine was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 50 years Weldon (Pete) McPherson, five brothers and six sisters. She is survived by four children. Cathie & David Farnum, Terry McPherson and fiancée Diane, Randy & Laura McPherson, David & Tracy McPherson, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. As well as a brother Lyle Kenney and a sister Althea Sweeney.
A graveside service open to family and friends will be held in the Spring at Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle.
