Christopher W Deemie, 38, of Philadelphia, passed away surrounded by love on August 20 at his family home in Johnson City after a short period of Hospice care
Chris is survived by his parents Gregory and Julie (Arnold) Deemie, Brothers Bob and Tim Deemie, Grandmother Meryl Deemie, Uncle Steve Deemie, Aunts Joann (Jim) Abbott, Dawn (Jim) Gill, Pam Spadavecchia, Karyn Dutton, Pat Arnold, many beloved cousins and his cat Max.He was predeceased by his Grandparents Herb and Donna Arnold, Grandfather Robert Deemie, Great Grandparents Ken and Gen Friedah, Uncles Mike and Boyd Arnold.
Chris's childhood was spent living in the countryside of Windsor, NY. Here he developed a passion for golf, yo-yo and the outdoors. These passions would extend and guide him through his life. Chris graduated from Seton Catholic High School in 2004.
He went on to attend and earn a Bachelor of Business Administration from Marywood University in Scranton. There he developed a lifetime of friends that led him to his next adventure in Philadelphia.
In 2019, Chris became a Mechanical Engineer, after studying at Temple University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Chris most recently worked for LCR Embedded Systems in Norristown PA, an aerospace and defense electronics packaging manufacturing company and took pride in the projects he handled. He was a well-respected mechanical engineer for the company.
He was also an artist and had a gifted, creative mind. Chris enjoyed the company of many friends and activities like golf, hiking, biking in the urban cityscape, kayaking, travel, yo-yoing, 3D printing, music and Gorillaz concerts. He developed a love for his City of Philadelphia and explored it as often as he could. Chris was able to travel to Barcelona, Spain during the second year of his cancer battle. A trip that allowed him to also visit Germany. He also previously traveled to Seattle and hiked the Adirondack Mountains. Chris was born under Haley's Comet and loved astronomy and space.
Chris fought a 39-month battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade 4 Brain Cancer, the most aggressive subtype. After emergency craniotomy surgery in June of 2021 he would go on and beyond just surviving, He would continue to excel in work and spend a wonderful amount of time with his family and friends. Weddings, birthdays, guys' hangs and special moments through his final days. Chris especially loved his brothers Bob and Tim. Bob would spoil him with video games and in many other thoughtful ways. Tim made him especially proud by becoming a skilled barber as they shared their cancer journeys together.
Christopher was grateful for the care he received at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Thank you to his Neuro Oncologist Dr. Iyad Alnahhas, Neurosurgeon Dr. Kevin Judy and their staff. We would also like to thank Bre and Lea of Guthrie Lourdes 1 Ross for their compassionate care for Chris during his recent hospitalization and the nurses and staff of Guthrie Lourdes Hospice. You have all been angels to Chris and to his family.

Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday at 10 a.m. Rev. David C. Seaver will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
