Obituary
"Coach" Chris Leak passed on to Jesus on September 29, 2023. He was a beloved teacher and coach at Forsyth Central High School for 27 years. Following in his Dad's footsteps as a math teacher/coach, he taught multiple different math classes and coached girls basketball, boys basketball, football, and lacrosse. He also served as a sponsor for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). His knack for helping students was obvious, and he was so well known as a coach that Daisey's/Sawnee Mountain Biscuit restaurant still offers the "Coach Leak Special."
While his 3 sons were growing up, Chris continuously coached multiple little league & travel teams from the time they were age 4, including baseball, basketball, & football. Chris followed his parent's example, never missing a game, a performance, or anything his kids were involved in.
When asked for one or two words that best describe Chris, here's a small sampling of what people who knew and loved him wrote...the outpouring of love and admiration was overwhelming...
Faithful, Fun, Devoted, Dedicated, Winning Attitude for God, Brother To All, Strong, Goofy (lovingly), Sensitive, Determined, Believer, Leader, Warrior, Funny, Smiling, One In A Million, Friend, Brave, Positive, Loving, Big-Hearted, Godly, Inspiring, Humble, Competitor, Selfless, Loyal, Passionate, Treasured, and Loved.
Of all of the words describing Chris, the word with the highest number of responses was KIND. What a Blessing to live a lifetime and to be known as a KIND person; it doesn't get better than that!!
Chris's friends and family know that he made a living as a teacher and coach, but his personal life was the foundation and very core of his existence. Christopher Matthew Leak was born on November 23, 1968 as the only "planned" child in a large family 11 months after the loss of a brother, Timothy, who passed away full term in womb the day before birth. His Mom "prayed to God to bring another baby boy", so Chris was her "gift from God and answer to prayer, special in all ways and a source of pride!" The Leak kids always knew that "Chrissy Boy" (nicknamed by Tracey) was "the favorite" of their Mom & they didn't care because they all loved him so dearly. Chris, Tracey, & Tony loved each other fiercely and were more than siblings, they were best friends. Of everyone in his life, Chris wants you to know that his sons were the center of his universe. Chris woke up every day and loved nothing more than raising his boys Jackson, Carson, and Camden. His entire life revolved around running a household that would provide everything they needed to excel both academically and athletically. Chris lived his life for his sons.
If Chris were writing this himself, he would say something like this
Dear Jackson, Carson, and Camden, I want to thank you for all the good times, all the laughter, all the love, and for the devotion you displayed in standing by my side at the end. I love you more than you can possibly imagine, and I hope you will live long, healthy lives. I wish you such good things, and hope you carry forward all that I taught you, especially the importance of love and forgiveness. Knowing and loving each one of you was the success story of my life. I'm so proud of you. I hope that every day you will take time to connect with our Lord Jesus Christ, and see yourselves the way He sees you.
To the countless friends and those in the medical community who so graciously tended to my well-being, I cannot express the depth of my gratitude. Your names are too numerous to list, but you know you are.
Until we meet again in the unconditional love and light of our Lord, I wish you the very best.
- Chris

I worked with him at Advanced Water and Kinetico. His father Terry helped me to get hired on and his mom Connie was always so nice to me. Chris and I loved discussing politics and his dad's football stories. I will miss you buddy.
