Clair Elizabeth Cooper Sanborn, 73 years old, of Brewton, AL passed away in Pensacola, FL on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
She was born and raised in Brewton, AL by her parents, Patricia and George Louis Cooper, Jr. Growing up with three other siblings, she was the oldest. Clair loved to play outside with the neighborhood kids until the streetlights came on.
She graduated from T.R. Miller High School. While continuing her education, Clair also attended Jefferson Davis Community College, the University of South Alabama, and Troy University.
Clair was the first female deputy in Escambia County, AL and started a youth police academy in Escambia County, AL. She was an Explorer Leader, Sunday School Teacher, an Adult Education Instructor, along with continuing to work with law enforcement.
Clair was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brewton, where she taught Sunday School. She was also involved in the Brewton Civic League.
Clair is preceded in death by her parents, Patricia and George Cooper; and her precious daughter, Beverly Cooper Sanborn Foster, who passed in 2017.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Jordan Cali Foster and Marisol Clair Foster; son-in-law, Matt Foster; siblings, Martha-Dawn (Kimsey) Singleton, Margaret Cooper, George Louis (Patty) Cooper, III; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends that are like family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church of Brewton, 336 Belleville Ave, Brewton, AL 36426. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m.
