Clara Marie Hickman

Clara Marie Holden Hickman, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, peacefully transitioned from this life on Thursday, April 3, 2025. She was born on July 10, 1946, to the late Spurgeon Holden and Catherine Johnson Holden.
Clara was a devoted sister to Geneva Johnson, Mary Bowman, Cynthia Butler, Beverly Rodgers, Carol Hester, Marvia Butler, Elizabeth Holden, Frank Butler, Jr., George Butler, Baron Johnson, and the late Dale Butler.
In 1962, Clara married the love of her life, the late Lawrence J. Hickman, Jr., with whom she shared a beautiful journey until his passing in 2009. Together, they built a loving family and a strong foundation of faith and perseverance. She was the cherished mother of Rev. Dr. Lawrence J. Hickman III, Kelly Hickman, Shawnti Hickman-Lee and the late Carlton Hickman and Tracy Hickman-Smith. Her heart and home were always open, embracing her special children; Denise Freeland-Hickman, George Lee, Dr. Lisa Fonville and Phillip L. Jackson, Jr. as her own; sister-in-laws, Dr. Yvonne Weah, Sandra Hicks, April Hickman, Mendell Hickman and Angie Hickman; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Clara's love extended beyond her immediate family, as she was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Clara lived a life full of faith, grace and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
May her soul find eternal rest and may her legacy of love and faith continue to shine through all who were blessed to know her.

Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Hwy 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday, April 10th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the service. Interment will take place at Haleyville Cemetery, Steep Run Rd. in Commercial Twp. following the service.
