Claude "Sonny" John Lowe, age 77 of Sac City, IA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.

Sonny was born on July 21, 1948, in Cherokee, IA, to parents Harold and Darlene (Yates) Lowe.

He worked as a farmer before becoming a tool and die maker at Noble Manufacturing in Sac City. As Noble was on the verge of closing, Sonny took a job at Montezuma Manufacturing in Montezuma, IA, where he worked for nine years. He continued his tool and die career until he retired.

Sonny was married and had two children, Becki and David, and later divorced. In 1977, he married Roxanne Hoffard and became a father to her two children, Misty and Jason. In 1978, Sonny and Roxanne were blessed with a son, Shawn.

In his younger days, Sonny was an avid figure eight racer. Some even called him a legend as he was the one to beat. Jason and Shawn followed in his footsteps by becoming part of the figure eight racing scene themselves.

Sonny enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, and gambling. He could fix or build just about anything and liked woodworking. He loved spending time with his family and especially adored his grandchildren. He lived in several states before returning to Iowa, where he spent his last years living on site and taking care of the Sac Municipal Airport, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his children, Becki (TJ) Morris of Waterloo, IA, David Lowe of Waterloo, IA, Misty Lowe of Sac City, IA, and Shawn Lowe (Kim) of Sac City, IA; daughter-in-law Joleen Lowe of Waverly, IA; grandchildren: Tabitha, Timmy, Teairra, Kailyn, Kelsey, Kyler, Kristopher, Lexie, Jaedyn (Tony), Jordyn (Austin), Caralynn, Robin, Ethan, and Tatum; twenty great-grandchildren; twin sister Claudia "Sissy" Frazier of Boone, IA, and sisters Georgia (Jim) Vincent of Murfreesboro, TN, Sherry Purcell of IN, and Michelle Lowe of Humboldt, IA; brother Tom (Lisa) Lowe of Fort Dodge, IA; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Sonny was preceded in death by his son, Jason Lowe; parents Harold and Darlene Lowe; brothers Harold Jr. Lowe and Danny (Joan) Lowe; and sister Nancy (Melvin) Crotts.
