French Funerals & Cremations - Lomas & EubankClaude S. Potter III, age 78 of Albuquerque, NM. Passed away October 2, 2025 with his Hospice Team, wife and brother at his side after a long hard fought illness. He was born in Chicago, Illinios to Claude S. Potter Jr. and Dorothy M. Potter who preceded him in death. He came to Albuquerque in 1953 with his parents and grew up in the south valley area. He graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1965. He enlisted in the US Air Force not long after graduation.
Claude was a decorated Vietnam combat veteran (1967-1968), Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans ( DAV). Upon his return from military service he became a police officer for the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department and was a past President of the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Officer Association.
Claude retired from Sandia National Laboratories in 2009 after 30 years of service working in various Security Departments.
He obtained a BA from the University of Phoenix and an MBA from UNM Anderson School of Management.
He is survived by his loving caring wife and world wide dance partner Suzanne, his son Claude 'Niko' Winkler (Ioanna), grandchildren; Anna, Ioakeim and Alexandra. His stepdaughter Olivia Romero (Jennifer), stepson Stanley Moore and step granddaughters Nevaeh, Jazaray and Reilley who all called him Papa. He is also survived by his beloved brother Frank ( Olivia), nephew Evan Potter (Kelley), great-nephews Elvis and Jet Potter, niece Caitlin Garrity (John), former sister in law Kathleen Montoya-Potter.
Claude , Suzanne and family would like to thank the Home Hospice Team, Liz, Lynda, James, Jennifer and Chaplin Janet who all rendered loving care for every part of our journey who felt like a part of our family. Thank you to friends and family who were always there if needed.
