Clayton Dale Harness, age 61 of Loudon passed away Friday, May 23, 2025 following a brief illness at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
Dale as he was called by his family and friends was born to the late Clayton Kyle and Joyce Marie (Butler) Harness in Knoxville, TN. He was a graduate of Farragut High School, Class of 1981. Dale went on to receive an Associate's Degree and began a nearly 40 year career as a machinist and mechanical engineer in the Power and Energy industry serving mostly as a Field machinist. At the time of his death he was employed with the General Electric company. Dale enjoyed studying The Word with his Small Group from Two Rivers Church and worshipping with the members at the Life Bridge Church in Loudon where he made some dear friends also. He liked to be outdoors, tinkering on something or treasure hunting to pass the time and those close to him knew he loved to share tid-bits of useless information whenever possible. He had a special bond with his canine friends, Rosie, Smoky and Bella but his favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family and grandkids. Because of their tremendous hearts, Dale and wife Vickie had an extended family as they fostered numerous children over the years.
In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother as she played a significant role in his life.
Dale is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Vickie Joann (Lane) Harness; children and spouses, Amber and Danny Silva, Clay and Ali Harness, Leo Austin, Christian Austin and Brittney Austin; special foster son, Gavin Colley; very special grandchildren, Eliana, Noemi, Neyland, Caleb and Sinai.
If you desire, donations in memory of Dale made be made to the Life Bridge Church in Loudon.
Services honoring and remembering Dale will be held 6:00 PM Monday, May 26th in the McGill Chapel with Rev. Ryan Moore officiating. The family will receive friends 4:00 – 6:00 PM Monday prior to the service at McGill Click Funerals & Cremations, 1366 Hwy 72 N, Loudon.
