Clayton Waldo Smucker, 92, of Greeneville, TN, formerly Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
Clayton was born on December 25, 1931 in Buda, IL, the son of Alvin and Elsie Smucker. He married Shirley Jean (Reck) Smucker on January 30, 1954 in Peoria. Clayton was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), Lions Club, the Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P), and past member of the District 50 school board. He worked for Yellow Freight Systems in Morton Illinois for many years. Clayton enjoyed traveling to Arizona with his wife Shirley for the winters, good food, and relaxing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Elsie; his wife Shirley; two brothers, Alvin Jr. and Cletus; and a sister, Betty.
Those left to cherish Clayton's memory include two sons, Jay Smucker, and Jeff Smucker, both of Greeneville, TN; two grandchildren, Nigel Smucker, and Hannah Smucker, both of Chicago; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at Wright & Salmon Mortuary on 11/10/24 from 1pm until time of funeral service at 3pm with pastor Randy Schertz officiating. Graveside services will take place in Hillcrest Cemetery in Morton, IL on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
Preferred memorials in Clayton's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
