Clifford Joseph Montroy

HAMMOND- Funeral services for Clifford J. Montroy, 86, of Hammond will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 12 p.m. with Brother John Youngblood officiating, at Frary Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow the funeral service in Ingham Cemetery in Brier Hill. Mr. Montroy died on November 10, 2025, at his home, under the care of Hospice and surrounded by his family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Frary Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Clifford J. Montroy was born on September 23, 1939, in Ogdensburg, NY. He was the son of the late Clifford and Margaret (Bresett) Montroy. He attended Morristown Central School. Following his education, he worked as a farmer, relocated to Long Island, and took on various odd jobs. On April 22, 1962, he married Edith Cobb in Brier Hill. After 60 years of marriage, Edith passed away on July 21, 2022. Clifford was an excellent mechanic. The couple would move to Summerville, South Carolina, and he worked at Piggly Wiggly and the Limehouse. He also worked as a mechanic on tractor-trailers. Edith and Clifford moved back to the north country in 2018.
Clifford enjoyed tinkering, working on tractors, visiting friends and family, and telling stories.
He is survived by his children: Lori Young and her companion Bobby Ellard, Debbie Crobar and her husband Steve of Heuvelton, and Larry Montroy of Macomb. He also leaves behind his sister Kathy Nesbit and sixteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his extended family: Bobbi Jo McLean of Hammond and Donnie Gilbo of Ogdensburg, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Edith, his daughter Cindy Montroy Griffin, his brothers Frank, Billy, Jerry, Brian, and Ronnie Montroy, and his sisters Linda Thompson and Denise Montroy.
