Clifford L. Rust, 80, Anderson, passed away at 4:23 am on Sunday, December 24, 2023. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, May 27, 1943, to Clifford and Wilma (McCullough) Rust.
Clifford graduated from Greentown High School where he played on the undefeated football team and held a state record in track and field. He also played the trombone in band. Following school, Clifford served in the United States Army.
As an adult, Clifford worked in sales and as an independent contractor. His athletic prowess continued as the pitcher on multiple church softball teams. He also served as a minister of music and directed many choirs. Clifford sang with or was the sound engineer for several southern gospel groups, but he was most proud of his time with One Voice. But of all the things Clifford did, there was nothing he loved more than spending time with family. Whether watching a swim meet, attending a dance recital or school music program, sitting in the hot sun watching baseball or the cold watching soccer, or listening to one of his grandsons learn to play the drums, he was always there with a smile cheering them on. He will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his daughter, Joy (Ron) Weller; daughter, Leanne (Maurice) Dunn, brother, David (Charlene) Rust; grandchildren, Michael and spouse, Caleb, Taia, Blake and spouse, and Drew and fiancé; and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford M. and Wilma Rust; and Connie Rust.

We know you are in heaven,
with loved ones who have already gone.
We're sure you're all together,
worshiping in song.
You always said to do your best,
so that's what we will do.
To always live for Jesus and
one day join you in heaven, too.
