Clifford A. Yeomans, 68, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away peacefully Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Bickford Home in Peoria surrounded by his family.
Cliff was born on April 13, 1956, in Swindon, England, the son of Donald D. and Gloria L. (Anders) Yeomans. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1975 and later married Cherie S. Algren in Galesburg on June 11, 1977.
Surviving is his wife Cherie of 47 years; his children, Heather (Derrek Blackwell) Yeomans of Galesburg and Michael (Crystal) Yeomans of Henderson, Illinois; his two brothers, Jeff (Nancy) Yeomans of Knoxville, Tennessee and Danny (Kim) Yeomans of Clinton, Illinois; his two sisters, Donna (the late Fred) Howerton of Galesburg and Connie (Jack) Miyler of East Galesburg; six grandchildren, Kaylah (Nick Marshall) Townsell and Kylee Townsell, Chet Yeomans, DJ and Darian Blackwell and Ila Yeomans; two great grandchildren, Saylor and Roman and several nieces and nephews. Cliff is also survived by his longtime friends, Rick and Lori Sundberg, Rod Standard, Curt Pitman and our Bickford Family. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Cliff worked for the Admiral/Maytag Corporation as a supervisor for many years until their closure in 2004. He then went to work as an outside salesman for Mid-State Manufacturing, retiring in 2021. Cliff was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was a 1st degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Cliff was at home with everyone he met, there were no strangers because time with Cliff meant you became his friend. He loved the outdoors almost as much as he loved his family. He enjoyed golfing with his Dew Duster buddies and hunting and fishing in the warm and often wintry wilds of Illinois with his boys. Cliff also attended every sporting or school event with his family to show his love and support. If you saw Cliff Yeomans, you saw a smile and probably expected a prank just because Cliff cared about you. Cliffs heart was truly for his family and particularly his wife Cherie, whom he adored.
Cliff Yeomans leaves a legacy of love, servanthood and of laughter. His children and grandbabies will be better people for knowing their kind and loving father, grandfather and most importantly he was a friend to all.
Cliff's wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, beginning at 3:00 pm at Harley's Pub Hall, 2243 Grand Ave., Galesburg, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Knox County. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is assisting his family with arrangements.
