Clifton Isaac Moxley Sr., was born on August 1, 1944, to Marie Sarah (Bennett) and Herbert Cooper Moxley Sr., in Columbus, Ohio and peacefully transitioned to the next chapter of his life on September 27, 2025.
Cliffo, as he was affectionately known, was an exceptional horseman, working most of his life with American Saddlebred horses as a groom and trainer, something he cherished deeply. He also played football in high school, where as a senior, he was the third leading scorer in the city of Columbus at Central High School. Additionally, he was a member of the track team and excelled in the hurdles.
Cliff leaves behind his partner of 65 years, (Mary) Emma Moxley; four children, Deborah (Joe), Maryanna, Clifton Jr., and Chad (Mel); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great child. He also leaves behind his remaining two brothers, George and Thomas along with many nephews and nieces as well as many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Marie (Bennett) Moxley, brother Herbert Cooper Moxley, Jr., sisters, Mary Ann Moxley, Frances Eiland Moxley, and Rosemary Moxley Bighem and granddaughter, Amber Stanhope.
Services will be held on October 10, 2025, at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Arrangements entrusted to the Walter and Lewis Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.walterfunerals.com.
