Connie Swan passed from this life on August 8, 2022, at her home, comforted by family, in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, married Dennis Swan in Las Vegas, Nevada (the only time they ever traveled there) and lived her 72 years in Nebraska and Minnesota, always near her beloved family and friends.
Connie is the daughter of John Reis and Dolores Carey, sister of Mike Reis, mother to Chris Knapp, Jayme Knapp, Ricky Knapp, and Matt Atkinson, stepmother to Dennis Swan, Jr., mother-in-law to Angie Knapp (Jayme,) Penny Atkinson (Matt,) and Sarah Christian (Dennis, Jr.,) Grandma or Nana to Christian Knapp, Kailen Knapp, Braeden Knapp, Chase Atkinson, Lauren Armstrong, Jack Armstrong, and Denni Swan.
Connie always sought a sunny place to relax: boat rides, lounger by the lake, lawn chair at a baseball field, or sunning on her own dock with a good book. Her best day was any of the above with the sound of family laughing and playing nearby. She found comfort and satisfaction in simple order: simple lists to complete daily goals, changing her home décor for the season, and everything in its place. She had a gift and ease assisting others and found her most rewarding work with Visiting Nurses in Nebraska and Lutheran Social Services in Minnesota.
Connie will be remembered for bringing family together, valuing long friendships, and prioritizing simple pleasures.
Services will be held August 16, 2022, at 11 AM, with visitation beginning at 10 AM, at Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Crosslake Minnesota, and streamed through the Brenny web site. A private family burial service will follow at Pinewood Cemetery. All friends and family are invited to gather from 1-3PM at 13098 Happy Cove Road, Crosslake, MN, to remember Connie and share memories.
