Connie Marie Urian, 58, of Dover, passed away, Monday, April 15, 2024 at Kent General Hospital.
Mrs. Urian was born December 13, 1965, in Dover, Delaware to the late Donald Edwards and Charlotte Kelly Edwards.
She worked for Chamber Bus Service as a school bus driver for the last 22 years and was always delighted to watch those children from her bus routes grow up and it always made her day when one of them would greet her with a smile and "Miss Connie you were my bus driver!" It was special to her to have been trusted with multiple generations of school children. She successfully competed in the "School Bus Rodeo", finishing third in the contractor division. She was extremely proud of the fact that she could navigate almost any back throughs without relying on any backup camera technology.
Mrs. Urian was extremely proud of her accomplishments, especially raising her 2 daughters, who she was very devoted to. A lifetime horsewoman, she was extremely proud of Welsh ponies and miniature horses that she showed all her life at the Delaware State Fair. She was always quick with a smile and help whenever someone needed and was able to gift several children with the experience of showing horses by letting them use hers. She spent many years working for and with Standardbred breeder and trainers, such as All American in Federalsburg, MD, in the area in multiple capacities from groomer to hauler which allowed her to work with and care for some high-profile racehorses and see iconic parts of this country like Lexington, KY. She had a soft spot for animals of all kinds including, dogs, cats, and even guinea pigs in addition to the horses. A true, born and raised Delawarean, she loved the Delaware State Fair and looked forward to spending those ten days catching up with old friends and making new ones. You almost always saw her in the barns with a diet Pepsi in her hand
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Urian and her sister, Donna Edwards Hrupsa in addition to her beloved companions, her dogs Buddy, Shy and Macie, and Harvey her pony.
She is survived by her daughters, Danielle, and Donna Urian both of Camden; brothers, Donald Edwards III of Dover and Kelly Edwards of Chestertown, MD; brother-in-law, Bartos Hrupsa of Felton; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved Welsh pony, Prince, her dog, Chase and her miniature horse, Felix.
The family will be hosting a celebration of her life at a date to be announced.
