Connor Nikolai Grebe, born Vladimir Nikolai Mauschev in Vladimir, Russia, on March 13, 1994, passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2025, at the age of 30. His sudden passing has left his family, friends, and all who knew him heartbroken.
Connor's journey to the United States began when he was just three years old. Adopted by John and Dawn Grebe. Connor became the much anticipated younger brother to his sibling Cory, and later, the proud older brother to Carson.
With the unwavering love and support of his new family, Connor adjusted quickly, learning English with remarkable speed and enthusiasm.
From the very beginning, it was clear that Connor was a boy full of curiosity, adventure, and desire to explore the world around him. He couldn't sit still for long, whether it was running through the yard, climbing trees, or doing gymnastics, his curiosity knew no bounds.
Connor's artistic abilities blossomed from a young age, whether through sketching on the back of a napkin, painting in his room, or creating in the backyard. His natural talent for creativity was evident in everything he touched, and it was in the world of art that he truly found his passion. One of his favorite things to do was taking art classes at the College of DuPage and at the DuPage Art League. After high school graduation, Connor's artistic talents found a new expression in his work as a barber/stylist. Through barbering, he combined his love for design with his ability to connect with people. He took great joy in making others feel good about themselves. He had an uncanny ability to make others feel seen, heard, and valued.
Like many adopted from difficult circumstances, Connor faced struggles throughout his life. Despite his positive energy, he grappled with a personal battle against alcohol that overshadowed some of his journey. Even in the face of hardship, Connor maintained a steadfast belief that tomorrow could be brighter. He remained determined to see the good in the world and to live with optimism, facing each day with the hope that change was possible.
Connor's family, who loved him more than words can express, will forever carry the imprint of his energy, creativity, and warmth. His parents, John and Dawn, watched him grow from a spirited child into a talented, thoughtful young man, and they are forever grateful for the time God allowed them to share with him. His brothers, Cory and Carson, will cherish the memories of their brother. They will hold close the joy of his presence in their lives, thankful for the happy moments they had together.
In his 30 years, Connor touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of love, art, and unyielding curiosity. He is survived by his parents, John and Dawn Grebe; his brothers, Cory and Carson; his sister-in-law Krystle; his nephew Bohdi; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and an extended family of friends who will forever remember him as a bright, fearless soul who lived life to the fullest.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held from 2pm until time of memory service 5:15 pm Friday January 17, 2025 at Williams-Kampp, 430 E Roosevelt Rd,
