Constance C. Mellor of Easton MD passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on October 8, 2025. Constance was born on July 15,1932 in Forest Hills, LI, NY to the late Emory Kemp Cathcart and Catherine Ortel Cathcart.
Constance, better known as Connie, grew up in Roland Park, Baltimore; graduated from the Hannah More Academy in Reisterstown MD; and attended Goucher College in Towson MD. She worked as a secretary for a professor of Rational Mechanics & Exact Sciences at Johns Hopkins University until 1963 when she married her late husband, Schuyler L Mellor. She and her husband lived in Baltimore until moving to Trappe MD in 1965 where she was a sustaining member of the Junior Auxiliary of The Memorial Hospital (now UMMC at Easton), a Friend of Talbot County Free Library, a volunteer driver for the Road to Recovery program through the American Cancer Society, and a retired member of the Trinity Cathedral Church in Easton MD.
She is survived by a daughter, Susie Jones; a son, Peter Mellor (Jackie) both of Easton MD; two stepdaughters, Jenny Mellor of Towson MD and Missy Mellor of New York; and a stepson, Jim Mellor (Callie) of Peru. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Matthew (Molly), Haley (Devin), Emily (Robbie), Maxwell, Zachary, Bradley, Kati, and Duncan as well as 6 great-grandchildren, Kendal, Adalyn, Blakelyn, Bo, Owen, and Cade.
Besides her parents and husband, Connie was preceded in death by her four sisters, Carolyn McCaffrey, Emily Robishaw, Ruth Johnson, and Helen Leopold and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at the Oxford Cemetery on October 23, 2025 starting at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Talbot Hospice in Easton MD.
Arrangements are entrusted to Mid Shore Cremation Center in Cambridge and Framptom Funeral Home by the Coales in Federalsburg.
