Cristal was born December 14, 1996, to Francisco and Maria (Banderas) Corona in Iowa City, IA. She graduated from Marshalltown High School and after graduation got her associate's degree in accounting. She worked for REM in Marshalltown for several years as a supervisor. In her free time, she enjoyed anything to do with makeup or lashes. She was most proud of her one-year-old son, Dariel. Cristal was told she couldn't have children and considered Dariel her miracle baby. She adored him and any time spent with her family.
Cristal will be missed by her parents, Francisco and Maria, her son, Dariel, and her brothers; Javier (Monserrat) Corona, Alberto (Citlaly) Martinez, and Jorge (Crystal) Corona, all of Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

I just had talked to your daughter at my Church of the Nazarene the week before she died. When roses and Yoli talked about her funeral I had no idea that she was your daughter. I am in such shock. My prayers are with you at this tragic time. God will take care of all of you.
