Ray Bolton age 83 of Crestview passed away on Monday November 7, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Dorcas, FL to James and Mabel Bolton on August 28, 1939. Ray grew up in Crestview and graduated from Crestview High School where he was a 3-sport star athlete and was inducted into the Crestview High School Sports Hall of Fame. After graduating he went on to attend Andrews College and played basketball. Ray worked for the Okaloosa County School system for many years as an educator before he retired. He was also a referee for high school sports for about 25 years. Ray served his country in the Florida National Guard where he was commissioned as an officer. Ray was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church and attended his son's church, Cornerstone Faith Tabernacle. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Betty Wiens and husband Jack, Doris Gaines and husband Bob and great grandson David Hewett. Ray is survived by his wife of 59 years Dorothy Roberts Bolton, sons Steve Bolton and wife Chris, Rodney Bolton and wife Robin and daughter Alicia Humphrey; sister Melba Richardson and husband Bill; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with special friends Jimmy Sanders and Patrick Humphrey. The celebration of Ray's life will be held on Saturday November 12, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m. A private burial will take place at Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview. Guest book and condolences are available online at www.whitehurstpowellfuneralhome.com
