Kallam- Curtis Buford Kallam, age 88, of St. Johns, Florida passed away on December 18, 2024, in Jacksonville FL. He was born in Helen, WV on September 5, 1936, to the late Curtis Butler and Bessie Shupe Kallam. After graduating from Sophia High School in 1954, he joined the U.S. Navy, attended Beckley College, and was with Sears Roebuck in Greensboro, NC. He then moved to Jacksonville, FL where he met his wife, Carol Brown, and they were happily married for 43 years. In 1983 he opened Eastern Imports Inc., a foreign automobile parts warehouse which he owned and operated for 30 years. He had an abundance of energy and zest for life. He had a special love for hunting, fishing, and traveling, and he and Carol traveled worldwide. More than anything, Curtis loved his family, enjoyed spending time with them and making sweet memories together. He loved worshiping the Lord with his family church members at Franklin Street Baptist Church. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ella Riggs; and brother, Moffett Kallam.
Survived by his loving wife, Carol Kallam of St. Johns, FL; children, Bryan (Tonja) Kallam of Middleburg, FL, Kimberly Kallam of Sophia, NC, Sharon (Fred) DeWitt of Jacksonville, FL, Michael (Leah) Everly of West Lafayette, IN, and Mitchell (Janet) Everly of Savannah, GA; brother, Larry Kallam of Asheboro, NC; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; along with several extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Curtis's Life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11:00 am at Franklin Street Baptist Church, 2521 Franklin Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206 with Pastor Terry Gore officiating. Interment will follow at Taylor Cemetery, Baker County, FL. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V. TODD FERREIRA FUNERAL SERVICES, 250 North Lowder Street, Macclenny, FL 32063 (904) 259-5700.
