Cynthia Mae "Cindy" Allen, 78, of Bangor, PA passed away in her sleep on Saturday morning, November 8, 2025, at Slate Belt Rehabilitation Center in Bangor. Cindy was born in Miami, FL on May 12, 1947, the daughter of the late George H. Allen and the late Evelyn O. (Scheller) Allen.
A long-time Pennsylvania and Monroe County resident, Cindy was a 1965 graduate of East Stroudsburg High School South. After high school, she worked for numerous businesses in the Pocono area, including East Stroudsburg Savings Association (ESSA), Stroud Township Planning Commission, BPO Elks No. 319 in East Stroudsburg, and for many years as a stay-at-home mom. Cindy enjoyed traveling, fishing, cooking and spending time with her family. A lifelong traveler, Cindy enjoyed many trips to Canada with friends and family, as well as traveling all over the United States. She enjoyed her summers on the Delaware River at a summer residence just south of Foul Rift, NJ. Nothing made Cindy happier than preparing and sharing a meal with friends and family, creating many happy memories with anyone lucky enough to break bread with her.
Cindy is survived by two sons, Matthew R. Corby and his wife Kate of Stewartsville, New Jersey, and Russell J. "RJ" Corby and his wife Vandra Lochridge of Mission Viejo, California; a sister, Lynn M. (Allen) Burgoon and her husband Bill of East Stroudsburg; six grandchildren, Emily E. Francis and her husband Charlie of Alloway, New Jersey, Hayley K. Moriarty and her husband Stephen of Stafford, Virginia, Megan Q. Corby of Midlothian, Virginia, Zachary A. Corby, Adam C. Corby and Parker B. Corby, all of Stewartsville, NJ; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Anna, Grace and Susie Francis and Sadie Moriarty, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas T. Corby.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 12:00PM at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc., 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Family will receive friends from 11:00AM to the time of service.
