Cynthia Dyanne Asbury, age 71, of Pounding Mill, Virginia, peacefully entered eternity on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
Cynthia's love for God and others was the essence of her life. Whether it was through her gentle guidance, infectious laughter, or unwavering support, she showered her family and friends with a love that knew no bounds. Her devotion as a mother, grandmother, sister and friend was evident in every sacrifice and tender moment, always putting the happiness and well-being of those she cared for before her own. And she was known by many as the best secret-keeper.
She retired from Ballad Health after faithfully serving for 42 years in Russell County and the surrounding area as an LPN nurse. She was born in Tazewell County, VA and was the granddaughter of the late Thomas Whitten & Nonnie Mae White and James Sparrell & Josie Boyd. She was the daughter of the late Henry Lee & Mary Ann Boyd White, Sr.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years: Johnny Lee Asbury, Sr.; brother Jack White; sisters Patsy Little & Carolyn Smith.
Those left to carry on her legacy are: son Eddie Quick and daughter Ketina Lowe both of Pounding Mill, VA; daughter Crystal (Rev. Doug) Johnson of Lexington, KY; step-children: Lee Asbury of Cedar Bluff and Missy Asbury of Bluefield, VA. Four Brothers: Henry Lee (Pat) White, Jr. of Masontown, WV; Jimmy (Linda) White of Parma, OH; Wayne (Sue) White of Raven, VA; Steve White of Ashtabula, OH; and brother-in-law Paul Smith of Morgantown, WV. Four Sisters: Betty Pruett of St. Joseph, MO; Alyce Garber and husband Don of Sevierville, TN; Tommie Harman of Bandy, VA; and Peggy Stevens of Pounding Mill, VA. Also special in-laws: Cathy & Mike Hamm of N.
Tazewell, VA; Frank & Wanda Asbury; Mike & Lynn Asbury; and Dan Asbury all of
Tazewell, VA.
Also surviving are 8 grandchildren: Brittany Quick, Rev. Lauren Johnson Daniel and husband Ben, Corey Johnson, Dane Quick and wife Chelsey, Kaylen Quick, Zachary Horn, Branson Lowe, Parker Lowe and step-granddaughter Emma Asbury. Four Great grandchildren: Raya Quick, Ryla Quick, Xander Daniel and Theo Daniel. And best friend Dana Moats.
The family would like to thank the staff of Legacy Hospice in Richlands for their amazing care. Also, special thanks to Dr. More, Dr. DeSalvo and Johnston Memorial Hospital Cancer Center for their dedication. And thanks to Belfast Full Gospel Fellowship Church for their hospitality.
Funeral services for Cynthia Dyanne Asbury will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Belfast Full Gospel Fellowship Church at 110 Cobblestone Dr., Cedar Bluff, VA 24609, with the Rev. Doug Johnson and Rev. Danny Altizer officiating. Visitation will take place one hour before the funeral service at the church. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Nephews: Darrell White, Kevin White, Keith Uphold, Wes Smith, Gary McGhee and Jimmy White, Jr. Hurst Scott Funeral home in Richlands is in charge of the arrangements.
